Description

They combine cutting-edge techniques with artisanal production. Following the principles of eco-design, they offer an innovative, handcrafted, and eco-friendly product. The design and manual manufacturing of their lamps involves layering pieces of corrugated cardboard. They use recycled and FSC-certified cardboard in their lamps. In addition, they use solvent-free glue, and all their lamps undergo a special fire-retardant treatment, which, besides providing greater heat resistance, increases the pieces’ impact resistance and makes them easier to clean.

The pieces in their lighting catalog emit a direct lower light and an indirect central light, which, by using an everyday material such as corrugated cardboard, allows the light to pass through the waves of the cardboard, texturizing the environment with a play of light and shadows; thus offering a new register of contemporary lighting, in which the light blends with the environment creating unique and exclusive spaces.

They have a design team specializing in custom lighting projects and provide tailored consultations and quotes. They also collaborate with architects, interior designers, and retailers.

Eco-friendly cardboard lamps

Lighting is a fundamental element in interior design and decoration, not only for its invaluable aesthetic and decorative worth, but also for its undeniable role in creating ambiance. At KL Eco-design, they are convinced that the best way to contribute is to be involved in all disciplines of design and construction, adhering to sustainable design principles. That's why they are committed to the "cradle to cradle" concept, one of the pillars of eco-design. The term eco-design applies to "all the approaches taken during the design of a given object that take into account the impact it will have on the environment throughout its lifespan." At KL Eco-design, they manufacture lamps using recycled materials, giving components a new lease on life after their useful life. For this Vigo-based company, reducing environmental impact at every stage of their products' life cycle is paramount, and that's why they pay attention to even the smallest detail. All the KL Eco-design lamps you'll find at Ekohunters are biodegradable and hand-assembled with solvent-free glue and coated with an eco-friendly, waterproof varnish, which also increases their impact resistance. They combine cutting-edge techniques with traditional craftsmanship by layering cardboard pieces. The main material used by KL Eco-design is corrugated cardboard from sustainably managed forests (FSC certified), which they combine with recycled cardboard. This wonderful eco-design workshop draws on the accumulated experience of its founders, who aim to revive traditional craftsmanship values with a contemporary perspective. Their values are clear: The ecological aspect of the project lies in the use of environmentally friendly materials, local production, and personalized items. Local production not only reduces the carbon footprint but also fosters the development of local economies and communities. The processes of innovation and development of techniques and materials have led to the creation of a new technique that combines two completely different worlds: technology and craftsmanship.
