The CitySens shelving unit is assembled at the Santa Teresa Foundation (El Vendrell, Tarragona). Together, we contribute to the employment and social integration of people with disabilities.
Plants relax us and bring life to our spaces. Even so, many of us don’t have all the plants we’d like: we lack the time and the ideal space to care for them. The CitySens shelving system is designed to help you enjoy more plants at home or at work. Thanks to its modular design, you can assemble your own vertical plant structure and make the most of any space: next to a window, on a wall, in a corner, as a room divider, or on the balcony.
The trays feature a 1 cm high rim that ensures the stability of the pots and prevents water from dripping onto the floor. Cleaning the trays is as easy as wiping them with a damp cloth or putting them in the dishwasher. The structure is stable on its own, but if you want it to grow vertically or have small children or pets at home, you can easily attach it to the wall.

A vertical garden with social impact
After creating several prototypes, they developed an initial design for the Citysens garden that was warmly received by the first 70 visionaries who decided to purchase one. Their feedback and ideas were incorporated into the product design created by Pär Blanking and Lúcid Design Agency. In November 2015, the Citysens garden launched via a crowdfunding campaign that garnered support from 265 backers and surpassed its funding goal in just 48 hours. Today, Citysens is a reality thanks to the support of everyone who has chosen to enjoy a Citysens garden at home or at work. The entrepreneurial team currently consists of Francisco Andrade, Pär Blanking, Xavi Rius, and F. Xavier Rius. Their mission is to bring nature closer to city dwellers by using design and technology to create inspiring products tailored to modern lifestyle needs. The entire Citysens team shares values of social, environmental, and economic responsibility. Driven by this, they work passionately to ensure their venture has a positive impact on both the environment and people. Citysens is convinced that a great product must always go hand-in-hand with promoting social and environmental sustainability. A testament to their social commitment is the manufacturing of Citysens gardens in collaboration with the Santa Teresa Foundation (El Vendrell, Tarragona), where a team of six individuals with diverse abilities handles assembly. These individuals also receive comprehensive support for their social development. With only 25% of people with diverse abilities currently employed in Spain, supporting this cause is fundamental to the company. Their environmental commitment is equally noteworthy; products are manufactured according to environmental sustainability criteria, taking the entire product lifecycle into account. The materials used are chosen for their durability—ensuring they remain in perfect condition for years—and are 100% recyclable.
