The ABLE Pallet Trapezoid Dining Table is not just any table; it has a clear story. This sturdy table is made from recycled steel and wood.
The story
For this sustainable table, we used scrap material from a steel factory, welding and coating the crossbars and trapezoidal legs in a Dutch prison. The tabletop of this circular table is made from wood sourced from discarded factory pallets: in the sheltered workshop, small pieces of planed boards from the pallets, cut on both sides, are attached to a plywood board, creating a structure and color gradient so characteristic of this version of the ABLE. To ensure a truly durable tabletop, we treated it with hard wax for protection.

Dutch design with history
Tolhuijs is a Dutch design brand based in Amsterdam, founded on the core values of sustainability, social impact, and exquisite design. In addition to advising companies on sustainable design, Tolhuijs offers its own line of recycled furniture and sustainable interior design products. They source their raw materials from factories that would otherwise simply discard them and recycle them in collaboration with prisons and social workshops, producing high-quality designs for the home.
Eco-designer Bastiaan Tolhuijs is a Dutch designer specializing in recycling. As a child, he loved to play with the classroom wastebasket, searching for long-lost treasures.
