Description

Globe Shade Medium is the medium-sized member of the Copernicus family. It’s a sustainable pendant lamp designed with papier-mâché for lighting and creatively decorating home spaces such as the dining room or kitchen.

Materials

The materials used to make these sustainable pendant lamps are primarily papier-mâché, which is made from recycled newspapers and water-based glue, and dyed with natural pigments. This material is characterized by its durability and light weight.

A one-meter-long black textile cable is used for its connection to the power source.

The Globe Shade Medium pendant ceiling lights use only LED light bulbs up to 20W with an E27 base (not included). The shade for this sustainable lamp is available in amber black, red ochre, gold ochre, sienna yellow, amber green, or natural gray. Custom cable color and length are also available upon request.

Utility and use

These pendant lights are highly valued decorative pieces. Thanks to the unique shape of their shades, when their core is illuminated at night, they tell the story of a large, bright planet. The Globe Shade Medium pendant lights are ideal for lighting the dining room or kitchen of a modern home, illuminating the table directly.

Environmental characteristics

These lamps, like all Crea-re products, are sustainable thanks to the materials used in their manufacture: recycled newspapers, water-based glue, and dyes, all of which are natural and non-toxic. Furthermore, the LED light required to illuminate these sustainable lamps is inherently sustainable, mercury-free, and has a lifespan ten times longer than traditional light bulbs. Finally, the lightweight nature of these products reduces shipping costs, as less weight means less CO2 emissions during transport.

Design features

The Globe Shade Medium sustainable pendant lamps are part of the Copernicus collection, which references the planets of the solar system. Their porous and irregular appearance symbolizes the dry, cracked soil of the planet they represent: Earth. Depending on the shade color chosen, more sophisticated and understated atmospheres can be created with black amber, natural gray, or amber green; or warmer and more cheerful spaces with ochre red, golden ochre, or sienna yellow. This sustainable pendant lamp is also perfect for balancing environments with a predominantly cool decor or for rooms with neutral tones..

Crea-re

Eco-designed paper lamps

The Essence of Crea-re: Every Crea-re papier-mâché lamp is unique. It is impossible to create two identical ones; each holds its own story—reflecting both the past lives of the recycled materials used and the artistic inspiration behind their creation. The Crea-re Story: The brand was born from eco-designer María Fiter’s passion for sculpture, a trait evident in the organic shapes of every lamp. Each new design project begins with a vision for a series of rustic yet elegant lamps that pay homage to nature. The brand name combines "Crea" (creativity) and "Re" (recycling). Production Processes: All Crea-re lamps are exclusive, sustainable pieces handcrafted from papier-mâché and wood. They are made using 100% recycled newspaper, while the wood is finished with water-based varnishes and beeswax. Inspirations: For the "Copernicus" lamp series, the designs draw inspiration from Solar System bodies such as the Moon, Jupiter, Pluto, and Earth. Art also serves as a source of inspiration for Crea-re; the lamp structures—characterized by a gray, porous, irregular, dry, and cracked appearance—were inspired by the paintings of the Polish artist collective "División Nowohucka."

Eco-designer Crea-re is led by Maria Fiter, who holds a degree in Art History from Kraków (Poland) and founded her studio in Barcelona in 2013. Maria’s work straddles the line between art and design.
