Functionality and beauty
When working with materials, Jana Hejdova focuses primarily on craftsmanship and originality. For Jana, ecology and sustainability mean moving individuals away from the consumption of a series of irreparable products and closer to tradition, craftsmanship, and individuality. She also advocates for supporting local businesses, the skills of local artisans, and the revival of nearly forgotten trades. Her goal is for the design that surrounds us to bring us a sense of harmony, joy, and peace.
Eco-designer Jana Hejdova is an architect and designer interested in interdisciplinary overlaps and a film enthusiast (she pursued a parallel study of film set design and worked on several film projects). Since 2013, she has organized workshops, initially to support the creativity of children and teenagers with autism (in collaboration with Apla) and later for a permanent group of followers. Thanks to her passion for working with glass, she partnered with the Czech glass workshop Ajeto, with whom she later collaborated on her first Elves lamps. Since 2014, she has designed and built her own brand. She collaborates with Czech producers as an architect and designer, using materials typically employed by architects in construction and interior design (glass, Corian, plaster).
