Plato design

The perfect balance

Plato Design is a design brand founded in Rome in 2015 by architects Alessandro Mattei and Caterina Naglieri. After working in various European cities in construction, interior design, and research, they decided to return to Italy to pursue their own project and launch their company. Plato Design's first design, the D-TWELVE lamp, was successfully funded through Kickstarter and subsequently showcased at Fuorisalone di Milano, Maker Faire Rome, and Moacasa. They have won several awards, including the Lazio Region Creativity Fund, the Inarcassa Premia le Idee Award, and the Maker Faire Blue Ribbon Award.

Eco-designers Alessandro Mattei is an architect, designer, and craftsman. Exceptionally creative and with a keen eye for design, he designed his first lamp at the age of six. He studied art and architecture in Italy and Spain, and later worked as an architect for international firms in Italy and Poland. Upon returning to Italy, he founded Plato Design. Catalina Naglieri is an architect and holds a PhD in Environmental Design. After training in Rome and Lisbon, she worked as an assistant professor at Sapienza University and later as an architect for international firms in Italy, Poland, and Spain. Returning to Italy, she joined Alessandro in founding Plato Design. Passionate about sustainability and innovation, she represents the rational side of the company.
