This hydroponic transparent planter uses the landless crop to invite you to observe the growth of the entire plant, both the leaves and the roots. In the landless crop, the plants feed on the nutrients dissolved in the water. For this reason, the CitySens transparent pot includes quality nutrients designed for landless cultivation, also known as hydroponics. The color and sifting of glass protects the roots from ultraviolet (UV) light.
materials
The plant support is manufactured on demand by 3D printing at the Citysens studio in Tarragona with the 3D printing technology TuMaker NX Pro Direct Drive HR, developed in Irun, Gipuzkua.
Each plant holder is made up of 108 layers of 300 microns of height of the lactic polyacid biopolymer (PLA) mixed with 40% wood.
The use of wood biopolymer makes the piece have an organic texture and a sweet smell reminiscent of ground coffee or wet wood.
To manufacture the transparent pots, we collaborate with Juan Righetti, craftsman of glass based in Lempordà, Gerona. In his Upcycling Bottles project, Juan uses glass bottles that he collects from different bars and restaurants in the area. It cleans and transforms them through an artisanal process into objects of great value.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
Place the stem of the plant inside the support, with the roots clean of the substrate inside the transparent pot.
Add water to cover the roots, without the water touching the stem of the plant.
Add nutrients Citysens in the ratio of 4 drops of nutrients per glass of water. The plant takes the food from the nutrients dissolved in the water.
Oxygen or change water with nutrients once a month. The roots need oxygen for their correct development.

After creating several prototypes, they developed an initial design for the Citysens garden that was warmly received by the first 70 visionaries who decided to purchase one. Their feedback and ideas were incorporated into the product design created by Pär Blanking and Lúcid Design Agency. In November 2015, the Citysens garden launched via a crowdfunding campaign that garnered support from 265 backers and surpassed its funding goal in just 48 hours. Today, Citysens is a reality thanks to the support of everyone who has chosen to enjoy a Citysens garden at home or at work. The entrepreneurial team currently consists of Francisco Andrade, Pär Blanking, Xavi Rius, and F. Xavier Rius. Their mission is to bring nature closer to city dwellers by using design and technology to create inspiring products tailored to modern lifestyle needs. The entire Citysens team shares values of social, environmental, and economic responsibility. Driven by this, they work passionately to ensure their venture has a positive impact on both the environment and people.
