Hemp Eyewear has developed sustainable and cutting-edge technologies and combined them with traditional craftsmanship methods to produce innovative and forward-thinking eyewear.
By utilizing one of Earth’s most renewable, ecological, and diverse resources, their vision is to promote hemp as a sustainable material for the future. Each frame is handcrafted in their Edinburgh workshop using components expertly designed in Germany.
All their packaging is reused and recycled. They try to reuse as many scraps as possible, for example, using lens cuttings for their business cards and keychains. They are developing new ideas to try to reuse as much of their waste material as possible.

The world's first glasses made with hemp fiber
Hemp Eyewear is a design startup based in Edinburgh, Scotland, that makes eyewear from hemp. Sam Whitten, a Product Design graduate, developed the idea during his final year at Glasgow Caledonian University. Searching for the most sustainable material on the planet, he discovered hemp and tried to find a product that no one had attempted to make with it before, and thus the first edition of the Crosby sunglasses was born. After graduating, Sam founded Hemp Eyewear in 2014 and, thanks to several successful crowdfunding campaigns, funded three years of product development. He has established a design studio and workshop in Edinburgh's Leith creative district, where all frames are handcrafted. The company has big plans for the future: selling eyewear worldwide and starting to develop a second hemp fashion accessory. Stay tuned!
