Woodio is a Finnish eco-design and materials technology company. Initially, this seemed impossible and extremely challenging, but it was a mountain their team was ready to conquer. And they are so pleased to have done so; today they can tell the world that a new material has been born! Therefore, their development efforts focus on bio-based and recycled raw materials. Their patent-pending casting technology requires neither large amounts of water and energy, nor high-temperature kilns to produce the final product. This results in a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to traditional bathroom materials. CO2 emissions per unit are approximately 80% lower when using a similarly sized ceramic sink. All sinks and bathtubs are designed and manufactured in Finland at Woodio's own factory using a near-carbon-neutral production process. The Finnish Labour Association has awarded all Woodio products the Key Flag symbol in recognition of their Finnish-made status. The company has also been awarded the Design of Finland label, which is given to companies that have demonstrably invested in Finnish design.
