Muka Design Lab is an award-winning industrial design studio specializing in the creation, design, and development of furniture, homeware, and small appliances that possess a distinct identity and character. From the initial concept—encompassing ergonomics, usability, and maintenance—to the selection of materials and production technologies, the studio’s commitment to "Slow Design" drives them to champion local materials and collaborate with skilled artisans and local workshops. Their goal is to create sustainable everyday objects that captivate through their design and originality. This is a company that perfectly embodies a "Go Local" philosophy. Their work has been featured in publications such as *AD Architectural Design*, *Fast Company*, *Archi Expo*, *Dezeen*, and *El País*; showcased at international design exhibitions in Milan and Los Angeles; and honored with a Red Dot Design Concept Award.
Eco-designers Laxmi and Lucas met while studying under a scholarship from the DZ Product Design Center; they subsequently went on to the Master’s program in Product Design at Coventry University’s Faculty of Art and Engineering, where both graduated with honors in 2006. After completing their training and gaining professional experience working for others, they founded Muka Design Lab to continue exploring their own unique concepts.
