DAM is a Portuguese brand founded in 2013 in São João da Madeira, a city located 30 km from Porto, 20 km from the coast, and 30 km from the mountains. Its products reflect a blend of design, industry, and craftsmanship, always keeping the country's collective cultural heritage in mind. The location and its people are special, so the brand strives to value local labor while adding an avant-garde touch through the application of new techniques, technologies, and designs. Its primary goal is to create sustainable, long-lasting products without losing its passion for product design—essentially bridging the gap between culture and the economy. Its commitment to sustainability rests on five fundamental values: "Create to Last" (production, assembly, and packaging take place in Portugal with constant quality control); "Honest Materials" (using materials that best represent their culture and evoke sensations, such as FSC-certified solid wood and cork, certified fabrics, marble, hemp, rice straw, and wicker—with cork being a 100% natural, recyclable, reusable, and renewable material that epitomizes the Portuguese essence); "Cultural Heritage" (creating unique, creative products by researching the culture and stories of the people who make up the country); "Price" (setting appropriate prices based on the unique and special characteristics of each product, while also supporting the local economy); and "Made-to-Order" (avoiding mass production and the resulting waste by manufacturing items only upon request, thereby using only the necessary materials and energy to fulfill orders and offering customers the opportunity to customize products to their liking).
