High Society

Johannes Kiniger is a maker who combines technical expertise with craftsmanship. After working for several years at an electrical engineering firm, and seeking a more biophilic profession, he decided to leave his job and founded his sustainable startup, High Society. His goal as a creative manufacturing studio is to recapture the genuine connection between Mother Nature and humankind through the powerful language of design. Founded in 2015 and located in South Tyrol, in the heart of the Dolomites, High Society focuses on plant-based lighting to achieve this goal. They create unique lighting pieces made from recycled, natural, psychoactive materials, whose tulips are crafted using a compression molding technique to give them their characteristic organic shape. The company aims to highlight the importance of valuing waste as a primary resource. As part of their eco-design policy, they use renewable energy from the Alperia Group's hydroelectric power plant, which holds the Green Energy Label.
